The object of the game is to place pieces on the grid in such a way as to maximize the number of points you score at the end of the game. When you start the game, a piece displays with a square selected. When you tap a cell on the grid, the piece will show up ghosted with the selected square on the piece anchored to that cell. To place the piece, tap a second time in the same cell. Before placing the piece, you can select another square on the piece and/or change its orientation using the four buttons below the piece. There is a preview of the next piece to be displayed ("NEXT").
If you attempt to place a piece in such a way that the piece will not fit, you will see red ghosted squares on the grid.
You score 5 points each time you place a piece on the grid. Creating a pair of complementary colors scores 10 points. Each triadic sequence scores 30 points. In the example below, the orange piece was placed. This resulted in three different triadic sequences, one of which is highlighted in white.
If you place a piece that results in 6 squares in a row or column following the color wheel — red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple — starting with any color, going in either direction...that's a Rainbow Run. It's worth 200 points!
When there is no more room on the grid to place a piece, the game is over. Your base score is based on points received for placing pieces and creating complementary pairs and triadic sequences. You receive a fill bonus, equal to 3 times the number of cells filled on the grid. This subtotal is multiplied based on how quickly you complete the game. The faster you finish, the higher your multiplier.
